Welcome back!

I am very excited about a brand new year with students and teachers happy to be back at school. Students could not wait to share all the wonderful adventures they had during our Morning Meeting on Monday. We are back in our routine and starting with new units in the different areas of our learning, exploring and discovering.

On Tuesday we were very excited to learn more about the brain and how it works. Thank you to Dr. Mustafa Atac (Levent's grandfather) for teaching us the importance of taking good care of our brain by eating healthy food, getting enough sleep every night and wearing a helmet when we are cycling.

Ms V was very happy on Wednesday morning when she introduced a good friend. Thank you Ms Katherine for visiting us all the way from The Netherlands and working and playing with us in class. Ms Katherine is a Grade 5 teacher at the American School of The Hague in the Netherlands.

Our mystery reader surprised us with "A Book With No Pictures" by B.J. Novak.  We really enjoyed this book, and decided it would become one of the Star Books in class. Thank you Manish (Dhruv's dad), for taking the time to share one of their family's favourite books.

Look at us.... starting our new Maths unit and measuring away!

Counting on the "Rekenreks" with Ms Nora...

And we are always excited to practice our maths skills on the iPads...

Notes and Reminders:

On Monday we start our swimming season during PE lessons. Please see Ms Sam's e-mail for detail.

Read the K2 Newsletter for important dates.

On Thursday, January 14th, Kathy Collins will be presenting an Infant Reading Workshop in C3 from 8:30 - 9:30. See detail on the e-brief this week.

Students are bringing in delicious fruit in their lunch boxes, and we have decided on a Friday we will have a K2AvS Fresh Fruit Friday day when we will share our fruit in a yummy fruit salad. So please remember to send in a piece of fruit or small portion of fruit on Friday. Thank you!

Have a relaxing week end.
