Week 22

Another week of exciting learning and challenges to overcome. We continue to prove that we are risk takers and know how to be resilient. Well done K2AvS students! We are so proud of you.

On Monday we started our new unit in PE - SWIMMING! We were super excited. Ms Nora taught us how to roll up our swimming towels like a "sushi",  ready to go down to the swimming pool. Some of us were like fish in the water, others knew that this was not our "comfort zone" but were still resilient and kept on trying.... and others just imagined that they were mermaids in the ocean.... ha ha!

We are always excited when our parents come in to share their passions and expertise with us. On Tuesday we learnt more about the bones in our body, and how to take good care of ourselves for growth and health. Thank you Dr Diarmuid Murphy (Sam's Dad) for taking time away from the hospital to teach us about how broken bones can be healed and how important it is to eat healthy food in order to have strong bones.

On Tuesday morning our Grade 11 Buddies came to visit us. We talked about our passions, how we are planning to present what we have learned about our passions, and to read with us. Thank you Grade 11 Buddies.

The teachers were really busy on Wednesday talking and learning about our learning environment while we were playing and having fun at home. We were so happy to come back to school on Thursday to a pod that was transformed into a space where we can practice and live out different passions during our discovery time.

The boys were very happy when the girls decided to help them plan and build the marble track.

Discovery time is so much fun! Measuring, adding and exploring in Maths, making greeting cards and continuing to construct using recycled materials....

Being mindful after a hot and busy break outside...

Double celebrations when Ms Priya (Anika's mom) and Ms Carolyn (Matias' mom) surprised us as Mystery Readers this week. We loved the stories about Spoon by Amy Kleuse Rosenthal and Scott Magoon and of course the story about The Wonky Donkey made us smile. How appropriate for Ms Carolyn to entertain us with a birthday story, and yes of course, yummy cupcakes for Matias' birthday. Happy birthday Matias and thank you Ms Priya and Ms Carolyn for reading to us.

Yipee!! It's Friday! Time to be creative in the kitchen!  Thank you to Ms Nermeen (Humza's mom) and Ms Tracy (Alex's mom) for helping us make a delicious desert with custard and fruit, which is known as "Trifle" - YUMMY!!! Thank you so much Nermeen and Tracey for this delicious treat.

Notices and Reminders:

Swimming on Monday.
