Week 31 - How time flies!

Thank you Thank you Thank you to all our wonderful parents for making the time to attend Parent/Teacher conferences. It is always lovely to be able to talk about the wonderful progress your precious child is making!

We have had an exciting week. The visit from well known author, Katie van Camp, inspired us as writers. She shared how she gets her ideas to write a book and how she writes and re writes to make her stories even better. She also told us about the illustrator who worked hard on interesting illustrations and how the pictures really help to bring the stories to life.
Some of the questions students asked Katie:
"Are you family of Ms V because her name is Arlene VAN Staden and you are Katie VAN Camp" :)
(Matias)
"How long did it take for you to write this book?" (Freddie)
"Which year did you write this book in?" (Humza)
"Where do you get all the ideas for your book?" (Alex)
"Which country did you live in when you wrote this book?" (Tara)
"Where does this story take place?" (Sam)

We are really enjoying the new unit in Maths, "Shape and Space".

We continue to be SUPER READERS, and love to share our "home-reading" experience in class. Thank you for taking the time to listen to your child read, and for allowing them to read to you.... what a special time of day!

We are the luckiest K2 class!! Whenever we do not have a Mystery Reader signed up for a Thursday, there will be an amazing mom or dad who would save the day for us! Thank you Ms Priya (Anika's mom) for being our Mystery Reader on Thursday, and especially for connecting with our Animal Unit of Study.

Thank you Mr Wilcox for coming into our classroom and teaching us more about our Mindfulness skills and strategies. This week we learned a new breathing technique by using our "breathing buddies" to help us understand our breathing better. This strategy helps us to relax, focus, and be "in the moment" after a busy and hot playtime outside.

Once again ending the week on a very happy note... cooking in the kitchen. Thank you Ms Yuli (Jordan's mom) and Ms Mel (Freddie's mom) for baking with us today. Ms Yuli prepared all the ingredients for delicious oatmeal raisin cookies and choc chip cookies, and when Ms Mel heard that Ms Yuli will be on her own, she jumped into the car and raced to school to help Ms Yuli. Thank you Moms!!

Notices and Reminders:

Don’t forget the Spirit Day organised by the School Council next Friday, 18th March. The focus is careers and we will all be dressing up to show who we would like to be or the job we would like to do when we grow up.
